Wish list Painting by Justine Formentelli

I created this piece for a plein air exhibition hosted by PleinAir Contemporary gallery in London and the theme was Chelsea in Red. The invited artists had a week to paint as many pieces as possible working in plein air or from their studios as long as it was from life. Walking around Chelsea and more particularly King's road, I was attracted by the lavishly decorated windows for the christmas season, how inviting and warm they seem. It made me think of the little match girl by Andersen who was dreaming, looking at the warm and cozy interiors while she was freezing on the sidewalk.
