About The Artwork
Woman with a Parasol Begins Her Great Adventure is an original biomorphic abstract expressionistic acrylic painting on a cradled wood panel, signed by Marlene Struss, wired and ready to hang. The wooden edges are lightly varnished to complement the painting. The title comes from discovering a woman with the wind in her parasol stepping out of her world in the lower left quadrant. The golden and blue glow of the paint, the delicate decalcomanias, and the organic shapes and patterns make this a very feminine but strong painting. The more one looks into it, the more one sees.

I'm a California girl, agnostic product of Catholic schools, and inveterate artist. My art degree is from University of California at Santa Barbara, where I am blessed to still be. Since college I've created bodies of work in pastel, surrealistic collage, abstract collage, digital painting and acrylic painting at present. I've shown mostly locally but have branched out as far as Russia and South Korea, and my work has appeared in several international art books.
