Michael Pfleghaar received his MFA in visual arts from The College of Art and Design Lesley University in 2011. Modernist design objects, architecture and gay culture inspire Pfleghaar’s colorful abstract paintings and constructions.

Pfleghaar was awarded the 2013 Joan Mitchell Foundation Ox-Bow School of Art Fall Residency in Saugatuck, MI and in 2012 was included in the LGBTQ exhibition ReMix: Revisiting Appropriation, curated by Jonathan Katz, San Francisco, CA. In addition to his artwork being featured in Studio Visit, Metropolitan Home, Solace, and American Craft Magazines, Pfleghaar’s pieces are in the permanent art collections including the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, Steelcase Inc., Neiman Marcus, Herman Miller and the State of Michigan Governor’s Residence.
