The Crab, from the imaginery of one of the most important maya cities from the late classic period, Cotzumalguapa. They developed their own writing symbols and one of them was the Crab associated with royalty. The crab is also one of the few foods that Gods ate, according to POPOL WUJ, the sacred book of the Maya. After decades of civil war and social persecution Maya culture is starting to bloom in a fresh and colorful way. Embracing our own codes, glyphs and traditions with a contemporary perspective, applying the vibrant colors from Guatemala´s traditional outfits. This series of paintings representing Guatemalan nature, including jaguars, crabs, crocodiles, cacao, volcanoes, bats, corn, etc. Each one with a mythological role in Maya Cosmovision.
