ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is from a series of works where the compositions derive from the older paintings. I appropriate a thumbnail from an older painting and manipulate it via Photoshop to come up with a pleasing image. Once on the canvas, color and structure are developed from my intuition. Many of the color combinations come from the commercial world and thus political. The transparent shapes are superimposed and are not transparent in a true sense. Each color is made so the viewer perceives it shape to be transparent. In the end, I want to painting to be enjoy intellectually and well as visually.
