About The Artwork

Acrylic and gold paint on canvas. WARNING : This painting is a dyptisch, 2 paintings (31"x31" each 62x31 inches in total) Always in search of the expression of time and infinity. For this series I was inspired by science. fascinated by the PI number, this infinite succession of decimals, I explore its rhythm by creating a color code. I use the number sequences to choose the order of my colors or the width of my lines. so I have 10 colors and 10 line widths that I combine endlessly. "YOU", on the left painting : here, this line rhythm is very "normalized". I added the figures 0 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = 45 Then I drew 9 lines (without zero) respecting these proportions, one wide of 1:45, the other of 2:45, the other of 3:45, etc ... The order chosen being exactly: 5923078164. This series of numbers fascinates me and I keep observing the harmony. Why? When we observe the decimals of the number PI, it is the first sequence of 10 digits which does not contain a double (61st to 70th decimal). This work is part of a large series built on the same rhythm, with different colors, textures and atmosphere. "ME", on the right painting : I did a nex order : 192837465, with the same order color Apparence : the lines are sometimes shiny, satin or matt, sometimes in relief. this gives an effect of vibration and relief. I add very little points with gold paint (see on pictures details) Please note: some colors are fluorescent and the colors are more intense in reality than in the photos.

Biography Christel Delrieu Petraud is an internationally established mid-career artist who currently lives and works in Toulouse, France. Her inquisitive mind finds her inspiration mainly in fields such as science, travel and the human being.
