ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Zen Enso circle brushed on Xuan rice paper, with ground pine tree ink which has very rich tones. Hence the Enso has a subtle radiance, due to the fine energy shining from the ink. The Enso stands for the Awakened Mind, the state of Non-duality, Oneness. The original Enso circle is not framed, to use the Oriental technical term, it is not mounted yet. When you brush on rice paper, it absorbs the ink and it wrinkles. Therefore the artwork needs to be mounted, which means it is stretched and flattened to take the wrinkles away. For more information about mounting this Enso calligraphy please visit my website, at , where I recommend you a mounter in California, US. Please be aware that I cannot take any responsibility for the mounting. This Enso is featured in my book " Zen Enso Journal", a collection of thirty-three Zen Enso circles brushed in black sumi ink. For more information please visit . Size of the Enso in cm: W 24 x H 28 x 0.1 cm.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My artwork comprises Zen calligraphy, watercolor and ink paintings, and abstract calligraphies. My mediums are ink, watercolors and natural pigments on rice paper, mainly Xuan paper. I wield the Chinese and Japanese brush, preferably the flexible sheep's hair brush. Many of my Zen calligraphies express the Emptiness teaching from the Heart Sutra, which has been the original inspiration for my Japanese calligraphy artwork. Other calligraphies focus on the teachings of the Diamond Sutra, Platform Sutra, or depict Zen koan, Zen poetry or single kanji. In my watercolors and ink paintings I strive for a pictorial synthesis of the subject, in the spirit of Japanese ink painting, using bold washes and vivid brush strokes.
