oil and acrylic on wooden disc. within the art of the ancient greek mythology that has survived for us to see, the depiction of a land-, sea- or skyscape is practically non-existant, although nature and its phenomena played a major role in their mythology. this gave me the idea to search for an equivalent, in this case a seascape, in my own surroundings that matched the mythological narratives. what is little known, is that poseidon was very interested in the small, greek and beautiful islands dotted around in his ocean empire and fought furious battles with the other gods to make them his own. in these paintings poseidon is always depicted as the sea...
