Animals and man. At what exact moment did our eyes meet for the first time? We will never know, but our lives and theirs are marked by the presence of the other. With this painting I want to feel the love that they give us and forget for a moment the damage that we continue to do to them. This painting is a small world, where everyone can be. The process of my painting is born without a specific idea, but with a feeling. It starts with a gesso base that has talc and zinc white. I let it dry for two days and then the magic begins. I apply in a chaos the Peruvian colors, which I brought from a trip, mixed with acrylics and inks. Then I let her rest for several days. I watch her, and I'm already beginning to see. Then, I paint the first oil base in transparency, very thin, and let it rest for a couple of days. At that moment I already see what is hidden in that canvas, these animals and beings that I sketch in charcoal from memory emerge from an ancient time of my genetic memory and thus little by little the figures are being built. At the end I harmonize the composition with the color blocks in the background, in a grid that reminds me of Inca constructions. Little by little, color after color, transparency after transparency, figure after figure, these worlds emerge. I finish by applying golden foil.

During my childhood, I spent much time alone, as my mother had to work to support us. In those moments of solitude, I would create farms full of small animals and fantasize for hours. This was the origin of my creative process, a game that I continue to enjoy to this day. Childhood is our homeland, and I return to it whenever I feel lost. There were many stages in my life when I turned my back on art, but it always resurfaced within me, uncontrollably, like a fresh spring to which I surrendered. A few years ago, I decided to make art the center of my life, and it was the best decision I ever made. I pursued academic training and was blessed to meet a beloved mentor, Armando Villegas (RIP), who believed in me, gave me confidence, and, in the last years of his life, encouraged me not to give up on this passion. I enjoy using professional-quality materials and experimenting with them; as a result, I have developed a personal technique in painting and drawing, creating a distinctive style that combines the abstract with the representational. I draw elements from my surroundings in South America and the theoretical principles of the "Constructive Universalism" movement, founded by the Uruguayan artist Joaquín Torres García, to offer a fresh perspective on the natural and fantastical world. Animals are a central presence in my work, serving as a reminder of our intrinsic connection to them and as a call to attention regarding their mistreatment in the food industry. The fusion of abstract and representational elements in my work invites the viewer to explore multiple interpretations and immerse themselves in a fantastic world where colors, plays of transparency, textures, and animal and human figures coexist harmoniously.
