Alexandre Marreiros was born in Cascais, Portugal in 1984. He studied arts and graduated in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture and Arts of the Lisbon Lusíada University. In 2012, he studied the urban and architectural configuration of Morocco's main medinas and presented his master thesis. He lived in Rio de Janeiro, where he developed his artistic work and research on the slums as a cultural and architectural phenomenon. Marreiros work has been developed based on drawing, building the idea of a territory that questions the relationship between man and the places where he lives, leading to the possibility of operating in different spaces and manipulating different times. Using a variety of techniques that in most of his work are connected, from drawing, collages, serigraphs, painting, from photography to installation - where these techniques emerged and are presented together. With this blend and improbable concoction of techniques Marreiros builds a peculiar vocabulary and creates his narratives. The artist showcased his work in solo and group exhibitions in Lisbon and Macau, and has also participated, as an invited artist, in the Lisbon Silent Festival - Words Festival and in the Macau Literary Festival - The Script Road. In 2015, he received an honorable mention from the Portuguese Contemporary Illustration and participated in the Nikon Photo Contest with six photos selected by the jury. In 2016 was selected by MAM (Macau Museum of Art) to present a solo exhibition at Macao Arts Windows. Recently he was the selected artist to represent Macau at the 12th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese speaking Countries. Marreiros lives and works in Macau since 2013.
