ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by the dense rainforests that I love to visit I created this painting in my studio after a week away in the landscape. Sometimes I am so inspired when I return to the studio that the colors and gestures flow without hesitation. This is one of those times, Forest rumblings takes its departure point from the highland ranges of eastern Victoria.. This vibrant work brings together different layers of color gestural marks one on top of the other that highlight the layered undergrowth of the forest in a joyous abstract story of color and pattern. .

I love to experiment in my process of painting, exploring opposites like the spontaneous mark alongside the deliberate, dark colours contrasted with fluorescent pigments, masses of colour juxtaposed with fine ribbons or scribbles of paint.
