VIEW IN MY ROOM
Living in a modern industrial city like in Vienna and having worked for large companies with lots of layers of reality, like production, labs, bureaus, entrance hall etc inspired me to this painting. Hierarchy is at the same time something like the concept of our lives as well as a disturbing and limiting fact. Resembling societies, the sequence of sizes and colors follows a strict rule, that is however slightly varied in every appearance, reflecting the room for individuality and free thought. On the other hand, with its cubical design, it reflects the digital revolution and being very "analog" makes fun of it in one go. The painting is an assembly of 4 canvases, each one being individually placeable on its own, providing the opportunity to rearrange the whole work dynamically.

For me art is a kind of science of the (sub)conscious that investigates reality and creates culture. Usually, I use a conceptual approach by becoming aware of my feelings, developing an idea and then work again intuitively. I am drawing/painting as well as taking photographs because I can get a deeper understanding of things which gives me calm and clarity. My topics involve the human body, culture, architecture, mass phenomena and social criticism. I am interested how we perceive life, what we allow to enter inside and what we show to the outside. I like to work with text as a subject or literally in a work of art. Architecture, its decay and the comparison with the human body is an important topic in my photography. When painting, I love the variety of oil colors and the spontaneity of watercolor. Recently I experimented with pastel, acryl markers and calligraphy brushes for expressive sketching. I work with digital and analog photography.
