The „blurry series“ is a different take on the classic portrait. As for centuries it was a common way to make sure somebody was remembered (even beyond death) and rooted in the present by the painting I tried to express rather the opposite in the „blurry series“.

The features of the faces fade into the background and loose their importance. What becomes more prominent is a feeling of memory, of evanescence. I tried to captivate a blink of an eye, a fraction of time to illustrate the limits of our lifetimes.

Trying to catch a sense of time on canvas. My work is a painted collage which is fueled by colors and shapes of memory and those inspirational elements that trigger the deeply felt urge to be painted. I think about the construct of time a lot and I try to find ways to depict aspects and ideas of time, timing or the passing of time and how it affects us in our lives as humans. Making art is like diving deep into this otherworldly, mysterious parallel universe, where everything is possible. My paintings feel like a souvenir from this place, they are a proof that I have been there.
