Younes Faghihi is an abstract painter who was born in 1981 in Iran, immigrated to France in 2011 and lives in Paris. He states” Letters and words are the vital elements of communication for human. In many countries if Intellectual thoughts express them self by talking, they will be prisoned if they are written they will be censored, and I found the way to free the words and thoughts in my paintings. I paint the Persian letters which were tools of my expression emotion from my childhood till now. I made my own brushes and pens in large formats to let the letters express themselves unlimited on my canvas.” His talent in art demonstrated in his childhood when he was 10. He started painting and years after, he also showed interest in calligraphy. He got his high school diploma in Graphic Design in 1997 and graduated in visual art bachelor in Iran in 2003. And because he was interested to calligraphy, he got highest degree as a professional calligrapher by the Iranian Calligraphy Association in 2001. In 2010 he got Research Scholarship Cite International Des Arts in Paris and since then he is living in Paris. Soon after his immigration to France his artwork was exhibited in GRK Gallery in 2013 in Paris and afterwards, Le100 Gallery (Paris)in 2016, Olivier Mousson Gallery (Paris) in 2018 and Donya art gallery in 2021 (Paris) represent his artworks. Besides, he attended in group exhibitions as Bonham's, Kamil art gallery and Nicolas Flamel Gallery. He is making sculpture and shaped canvas to continue shaped canvas movements led by artists such as Frank Stella, Larry Bell and others, as he says “to fly the letters out of traditional rectangular canvas and let them present themselves in three dimensions and form the shape of canvas as they want” He is member of the house of art in Paris for almost 11 years and works as an independent full-time artist in Paris.
