Art Description

Painting: Oil, Pencil, Pastel, phototransfer on Wood.

In this "remix" series i did experiment with quoting and sampling my own work, reproduction techniques, the social media and their demand of photos, the authenticity of a gestural abstraction. At first i noticed that alot of my close ups of bigger paintings i did for instagram function as a painting of their own. I took these digital files, printed them out on a laserprinter and transformed them with my analogue phototransfer to wood. The image comes mirrored and depending on the amount of the gel it is slightly rough and distorted. You never really know what comes out in the end, i like this unpredictableness. The handwritings now appears like a secret language which i like. The contradiction between the frozen and reproduced gestual markings and the overworking new elements build an exciting dialogue and bring to lige completely new works of art. Every painting is framed and has a professional suspension.
