something in the water - nothing specific, anything ... I don't start my paintings with a specific idea of how the picture should look. The sequence of the painterly actions is purely intuitive. Gradually, pictures become visible that I reject until I find something that is exciting for me. The images I am looking for need a depth that is usually created by many overlays. The final picture always appears suddenly and unexpectedly. Although I do not think of the pictures in advance and then implement them, it is surprising that the topics have changed little over the decades.

Per Gulden studied art and film in Bremen and Berlin. He was a lecturer for experimental film with Gerd Dahlmann at the College of Design in Bremen. In the 1980s he created three cycles of paintings: Architectures, Ashes and Liquids. Various exhibitions in Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt a. M., Bremen. In 2010, he created his first pocket photos. Since 2017, painterly works on the themes of water and sky. Various exhibitions in Germany, Spain and France. January 2023 Exhibition at Kunstverein Pritzwalk.
