the piece was inspired by my past which my grandma loved raring hen, also for their value purpose which they symbolize good luck and prosperity which is another reason most african homes and abroad love to have them around. i want the viewer to be reminded of their cultural norms and value and appreciate them. the medium used is my favorite and the style is part of my exploration.

Jayeola joshua (b. 2000) is a visual artist living and working in Lagos, Nigeria an indigene of osun state. Joshua obtained his (ND) National Diploma from Polytechnic Ibadan in fine art and graduated from Yaba College of Technology in Fine Art (HND) Higher National Diploma in painting: march,2023. He had his training at universal studio of art “known as USA in Nigeria “ and under Abdulsalam Abdulkareem. Joshua was fascinated by his environment and people around him at a tender age and began to represent them in drawing, ever since then drawing has been a long passion for him, he portrays them passionately in drawings and paintings. Becoming a renowned artist has always been Joshua’s aspiration from tender age despite the inadequate support from his parents on his career path. One of his goal as an artist is to keep creating thoughts-provoking works, larger than life works and works that preserve the culture, the past and present moments. Joshua's art is a testament to his ability to find beauty in adversity. His work is not only visually appealing but also serves as a catalyst for dialogue and evoke a range of emotion. He prefers to work with acrylic, oil, and charcoal on canvas, constantly experimenting with his ideas in the pursuit of artistic innovation. In his artwork, the curved lines take a dual roles, representing both comfort and discomfort, as well as reflecting the state of mind of Individual. They also evoke images of the human body and movement. Joshua themes often explore cultural values, social issues, lifestyle and self-identity, prompting viewers to complete the question "who am I?" His creations are a reflection of individuality and strive to inspire mental health awareness and reflection. joshua Has been involved in various group exhibitions and portfolio reviews, gaining recognition both in Nigeria and abroad. His works has been featured in notable events such as the Art miabo international art festival (group exhibition, Nigeria, represented by Nk art gallery), the nine eighteen nine studio gallery "mother mother " exhibition (group exhibition, USA), how time flies ( group exhibition on Artsy) represented by vivid exclusive art gallery, and nirantar international online group exhibition.
