Art Description

Painting: Oil, Pencil, Ballpoint Pen, Chalk on Wood.

Painting: Oil, Graphite, Chalk, Phototransfer and Pencil on Wood.

THIS PAINTING IS SHOWN IN A GROUP EXIBITION TIL DECEMBER. IT IS FOR SALE AGAIN IN EARLY JANUARY...

i was inspired by a lyric of an old joni mitchell track: "i wish i had a river / to skate away on“. i wanted to create an utopian landscape with an otherworldly twist, echoing loss and desire, combing gestural brushstrokes with modern midcentury style architecture. i work multilayered and use an analogue photo transfer as a starting point for the painting. nowadays i work exclusively on wood, my photo transfer works perfectly on that material and my sometimes punchy style with all kinds of pens, pencils and pastels needs a hard underground. i combine that with delicate structures, thin white washed lines, sublime sensitive strokes and lines.
