ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I use flat shapes to create a balanced composition on the picture plane as well as within a suggested space. The dimension of each rectangle is determined by the subtle color relationships. I am evoking a time when Greenberg and Rosenberg debated the merits of flatness versus space. I reference movements such as Constructivism, Cubism, and Minimal Art, and artists such as Picasso, El Lisitsky, Burgoyne Diller, and Josef Albers.
