My work is a process to strive for finding something that could be a metaphor of human life. One of the things I have learned while living my life so far which is never long is that I should admit and accept the fact that there is inevitably something that I cannot achieve only with my efforts or will. I cannot face my life just with immature youth any more. Life has been a series of process to gain something precious and to lose something valuable that I wanted to treasure up at the same time and the wound after the continual losses might have been healed up but it does not go back to my own original skin. I have gradually come to realize that I should accept the life itself in a humble way and I cope with it bravely. This is the answer that I've reached now for a question that how can I keep myself without failing to stay centered in a complicated life where things cannot but be unstable to come in the future and I don't know whether it is happiness or misery, pleasure or sadness, warmth or chill. The brave attitudes for life. What was the most suitable material for that was no other than a 'tree.' The tree keeps its place dumbly despite of any hardships. Over time, its bark is damaged by external physical force and it loses regenerative capability growing old, then it slowly ends its life. I can get a sense of human life in that shape of the tree that bravely keeps its place. It resembles human beings that keep the life with their best in their own positions and then get old. To paint a tree is a process of drawing individual lives one by one that are going through living a life in silence. As there are no two same lives in this world, no two trees are the same way. To express a tree's matiere with passing through my eyes and hands is outcome from a series of acts to capture human expressions. Through this, I want to show awe to each individuals' lives that have been well kept with full of ups and downs. Even in continuity of rough life, there always is warm and calm energy of hope. We can see a forest when we turn away our eyes that used to look at a tree at a close distance and we get far off. Seeing lonely trees making a forest and changing their clothes in accordance with seasons, I come to feel that every life has its spring, summer, fall and winter. Watching a forest recorded on photography which is to capture moments of life, I sometimes feel the energy of hope as well. Pixel images moving with lumps from light are memories of life, afterimages of history and energy of affirmation rolling up. I aim to leave the energy of hope through expressing seasonal energy that combination of various color-field makes up at my fingertips. The silent tree through which I cannot tell different seasons and the changing forest with embracing seasons. All of these are human forms that keep living a life in a society over time. I hope anyone living today to read a message of tranquil consolation and powerful encouragement in appreciating my works.
