ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My previous profession as a midwife looks at the cross over between reproductive biology and art. The flower has long been seen to represent female biology with its seeds and stamens. With the latest break-throughs in technology and strides in genome editing my work comments on how woman can be seen as part of this consumer culture and presents the viewer and society with the question of 'what to we want to want' in this 21st Century and recombinant DNA era of creating 'designer babies!
