i am very pleased to be able to announce that i will be showing this piece in my solo show at the ying art center in shanghai opening 12. november 2017 large scale oil painting on canvas removed from its stretch frame to be hung from mounted eyelets. the numbers in the title are the latitude and longitude coordinates where i discovered this mound of pine tree branches, twigs and needles after the foresters had felled trees as they do every year in january. needless to say, by now this mound has also been tidied away and young saplings have probably replaced the felled trees. so if you look up the coordinates on google earth you will find this exact spot but the scenario will be a completely different one. with this series of paintings i reflect on our perception of reality and in this case question the validity of the coordinates and in what way they render an accurate account of reality...
