About The Artwork
This is a highly worked gallery wrapped canvas over panel. The canvas is illuminated with a radiant cadmium red then prepared with a fresco secco. The surface is imperfect and nuanced to have a very natural appeal. I paint multiple colors to allow them to read through one another. Small pin stripes of color and archeology vibrate with and against each other to create a piece with a great deal of life. Ultimately the piece is glazed with a thin acrylic medium so it has a slight gloss as a contrast to the rough hewn paint work. Has a great contemporary boho read. Inspired by hand painted signs, folk traditions and entropy. My works are exhibited at galleries across the US, in museums and in collections like Twitter, Estée Lauder, NYU to name a few. Alicia LaChance is a full time painter based out of St. Louis, Missouri. She is represented by galleries across the Untied Sates. Recently, her painting, New Village, was reinterpreted as a 27' terrazzo floor public art installation at St. Louis International Airport. This work was also highlighted in the Wall Street Journal. Her paintings were selected by Julie Rodriguez Widholm, the Pamela Alper Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, for the 2011 Midwest edition of New American Paintings. Most recently, she has been commissioned to create original artworks for Roman & Williams for a project at the CAA. The artist is proud to be working with a design team recently ranked by Architectural Digest as one of the top 100 design firms in the world. Her artwork is in collections throughout the US and abroad.
