About The Artwork
This piece is about artists and artistic endeavour. It's about how most artists are imitative and are repeating ideas that have been advanced by others. Just as the Greek odes were composed by the "Aoidos" but propagated by the "Rhapsodes" who recited them. The Rhapsodes were idiot savants like the Rainman who could remember and recite extremely long verses but weren't capable of any originality. The vast majority of artwork is imitative in this sense. The piece is framed in a shadow-box with a space between the plexiglas and the backing to accomodate an attached assemblage. All materials are archival quality. Framed dimensions: 84 x 59.75 x 3.5 Inches.
