About The Artwork

The long stalks of the ocotillo cactus stretch tall into a desert sky full of sunset color. The rolling clouds tumble in the wind, changing hues as the sun dips lower towards the horizon. To capture the movement and vivacity of this scene, as I perceived it in person, I used long, loose brush strokes and bold color that awakens the senses. This painting has been framed in a hand-carved, one-of-a-kind frame that has been hand-gilded in genuine gold leaf. This frame is a beautiful blend of classic American impressionist frames and contemporary "floater frames," just as my style is a unique blend of the classic and contemporary. The frame is designed to stand away from the edge of the canvas, leaving a 1/4" gap around the painting, which allows you to experience every brush stroke on the canvas.

Erin Hanson creates vibrant and inspiring landscapes in her signature modern blend of classic impressionism and expressionism, which is becoming well known as "Open Impressionism." A bold impasto paint style breathes life into her colorful large wrap canvases. Raised in the Southern California desert, Hanson's thirst for adventure and love for art has been evident from a young age. First painting in oils on a easel constructed by her father while in elementary school, Hanson has rapidly emerged as a must-watch artist for art and nature lovers worldwide.
