About The Artwork

When an interesting palette is discovered by Ericka, She enjoys mixing it up through shapes and placement. By creating multiple small paintings which can be hung together in a grid, She expands on her building-block concept which is the ongoing theme of her art. Of course each piece is stand-alone, (one geometric "color-pop" makes a great statement), but the option to buy multiples to increase the "story" is dynamic. This piece is ready to hang, and does not necessarily need a frame.

I paint conceptual visions of my experiences or others experiences I have witnessed. Things substantive, and implicit. Things imagined. Building blocks. Scenarios. Instances. I develop my paintings with a non-objective approach to focus on the “line”. How it forms visual relationships with the negative/positive space it creates via intersecting perpendiculars and curves. Color enhances the dynamic increasing visual impact, contrast, and momentum. My abstract geometric work is a result of a continued exploration. Small pieces to a puzzle coming together to make a complete picture. My paintings, being abstract and conceptual in nature, allow the viewer to render their own individual interpretation. That interpretation is my art, the epitome of what I so enjoy creating. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I attended the University of Texas, Austin, and worked as a graphic designer following graduation in both San Antonio and Dallas before relocating to San Francisco. Following a hiatus to raise a family and a move to the east coast, I have returned to painting to develop my true passion and create works which engage people, make them wonder, or stir something inside them. I currently live along the New Jersey coastline with my husband and 5 children.
