About The Artwork

This 2016 painting is part of the Fragments series, a set of works about disjointed memories in unrelated places. In this piece I do a reenactment of two creations: a drawing of a female nude I did from my father's sculpture when I studied in San Telmo Art School in Málaga in 2000; and a Jim Morrison's photograph I cut from a newspaper when I worked as a graphic designer in Madrid in 2008. Both objects turn into my biography and at the same time in an artistic element. Acrylic comes back to be my medium due its fast drying and fluency, and the dripped canvas reappears in the side of Jim Morrison's portrait but in this case in a minimal expression. On the other hand, paint becomes more compact in the nude female figure and it looks like a charcoal drawing. However, the surface is practically flat with no texture of caked paint. The painting is signed and dated on the front. This work is unframed and it is shipped streched in an extra strong cardboard box.

Fernando Rodríguez Salas (Barcelona, 1983.) was graduated at University of Fine Arts in Granada in 2005 after studying Graphic Design in Middlesbrough (UK). Fernando started working as a Graphic Web Designer in Madrid but later he was attacted by acting and he started to took part in plays, short films and commercials. At this point Fernando explain: " It doesn't matter any medium I use, wathever acrylic, watercolor, marker or graphite, the most important thing is the experience of the moment and the search of the impulse to react to a stimulus, These two princples I found them out when I worked as an actor in Madrid; and in this way, I can start with an idea in mind but I change it, driven by my instinct, in order to come upon new findings." His last exhibitions were at the Affordable Art Fair in Milan and at Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid, where he showed part of the Dark Paintings series.
