Harmony/Staccato was inspired by the many faces nature presents us of ourselves, in this case, the ocean was my muse. Created slowly and specifically with many layers of watercolor, the painting on the left side, Staccato, captures the ocean's surface from the wake of a speedboat. Contrastingly, Harmony, the painting on the right, reflects the balanced, meditative qualities of the ocean as seen from a sailboat on a calm day. Harmony/Staccato actively and accurately reflects our lives, as we pass through each day with high and low activity. I chose to keep the paintings monochromatic to help create a visual continuum across the span of the diptych. These two works are each painted on 22"h x 30"w Arches cold press 100% cotton rag imported from France. They are then floated on archival matting and framed in low profile, white low gloss frames. This photo does not justly show the work as you cannot see the right side of the frame. Please contact me for other photos! As a diptych, they should be hung side by side next to one another, the overall dimensions are 26" x 68"w, however, they can be hung with more space in between them as the collector desires to fill a larger space!

BORN: New York MEDIA: Paintings, Printmaking, New Media, Photography STUDIO: Connecticut My early exposures to environmental experiences have proved to be the impetus for my artistic focus. Capturing and retracing my journeys in the natural and urban environments result in unexpected juxtapositions. My environmentally focused imagery centrally highlights the fragility of nature in an increasingly technocentric world, through an amalgam of painting, printmaking and contemporary photographic media. Utilizing pattern, light and nuances of the tamed and untamed aspects in my environment enable me to offer an unexpected perception of the landscape. My work is observation-based, with a strong conceptual sensibility and superb craftsmanship. -Nancy McTague-Stock
