About The Artwork

Each time I passed by Hyde Park in Perth, its serenity never fails to draw me to walk among its majestic trees. It looked especially lovely and captivating in Autumn with its warm and vibrant colours. Some quick facts: Hyde Park was originally a wetlands which was converted to a city park in the late 1890s, planted with mostly non-native trees. The painting here depicts the Plane Trees, that turned a orange-golden hue circles the perimeter of the pond and Moreton Bay Fig Trees grow around the outer lawn. This artwork is the third in the series, based on my memory of Hyde Park in Perth during Autumn 2018. Each work in the series explores the use of different mediums, and the results.

Artist's Website: www. SilentDoodles.com (Check out our fundraising campaigns, more artworks, or follow our blogposts!) --- I'm a Perth-based Artist. Painting and experimenting with art in different mediums is my way of slowing down, to learn about life and the environment which surrounds us. This is especially important because we live in a speed-addicted digital age peppered with fast information and much distractions. Making art is also a reminder of what there is to love, hate or fear. My Practice: An artistic creation is like a form of conjuring, of combining observational work with personal imagination that can produce emotional and magical results. Inspiration for my current practice stems from the environment around us, whether natural and planned, and exploring the essences and metaphors that it carries. It has evolved to focus on the exploration of lightness and movement in the subject matter, in an expressive manner, through the adopting of looser, bolder strokes and colours. Depth and patterns are also typical theme in my current works. I take an experimental approach for creative process, by beginning with a broad composition in mind, to kickstart the drawing, pushing and smudging of inks, and wax, paint and other mediums around the paper or canvas. And because there is a certain degree of unpredictability in the method, adjustments are constantly made depending on how the drawing evolves and takes shape. The serendipitous results are more than often pleasantly surprising. My artistic journey and explorations are shared in my website: silentdoodles.com
