Size: 40" W x 30" H (102 x 76 cm)

The idea for this work came up when I saw a lotus blooming. Huge pink flowers reflected on the water mirror. I looked at the cones of their petals and their shadows on the water. It reminded me of the work of impressionist artists. But I not only wanted to depict a lotus flower on canvas. I wanted to capture my impressions of what I saw and show the symbolic meaning of the lotus. Therefore, during the creative process, I mentally moved myself into a flower. I used shades of pink, peach, rouge and watermelon on a dark gray background. I also added light accents and some red paint to the canvas. This combination allowed me to create at the same time a delicate and expressive artwork.
