About The Artwork
Artist Eleonora Ryabokon (b. 1935). The composition "Jacob's dream" ("Jacob's ladder") is made in a mixed technique of facial sewing and tapestry seam. The work was done in 1997 by Gustave Dore engraving. The painting depicts a scene from the book of Genesis with the description of the dream, a dream to Jacob during his journey from Beersheba to Haran (Gen. 28: 12-12). Jacob is presented in the form of a shepherd sleeping by the tree on the stone, put it under his cheek left palm. In the background, he is depicted a staircase in the form of a stream of light, through which angels ascend and descend.
