About The Artwork
From biblical times this area has seen many battles which included figures such as King Saul and Jonathan who both met their deaths in this area. But when I was there it was an oasis of quiet and calm. Fairly nearby, fighting still rages to this day. The Syrian civil war is but a short distance away. The beauty of the area and the peaceful nature of the landscape inspired me to paint this scene.
