About The Artwork

Visuals and texts have ability to determine people’s perception. The world today is a market place that sell products through images and wording that are so convincing they make you believe “who you are” and “the urge of buying those products”. In a similar way, we present ourselves through social network by using pictures and words of wisdom borrowed from the others. In my mind, those pictures and texts are too good and too perfect to be true. I believe in humans and humans make mistakes. Therefore, my pieces are questioning such perfection by recontextualizing them. What will happen IF texts or pictures fail to communication what eyes see? Conflicting images and unreadable texts formed by my creative process are created to challenge cognition of audience. My work allows them to think or speculate about its meanings truly based on their attitudes and experiences, without persuasion.

Narissara has been constantly expanding her artistic skills to include other forms ranging from poetry to a book compiling her often unsettling thoughts and also working with street artists. She was awarded the ‘Purchase Prize’ award from the 1st Bangkok Triennale International Print and Drawing Exihibition in 2003 and in 2006 she had the opportunity to be an artist in residence at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont, USA. In 2015, she explored her transition from painting to embroidery, and was awarded the 15th Silpa Bhirasri Creativity Grant by Silpakorn University. She is a strong believer that when it comes to her art attitude is more important than the media she uses. In 2019, she spent the second half of the year as artist-in-residence in Japan and France.
