About The Artwork

"le viager" is a French, official, contract between two individuals-until death do as part-. A propety owner- A - (on the painting the man in the middle) signs a contract with an individual -B- (on the painting the man on the right). -B- will supply a certain amount of money/income on a monthly base untill the property owner-A-'s death. -A-often is an elderly person and house owner with no relatives and a modest income. . Cases are known in wich a certain -B- was involved in farious "viager" contracts in wich -A- parties past away doubtfully. Sometimes -A- lives longer then -B- With this painting I used grey tones as in grey suits.Playing with 'pin stripe'(costume) lines and A4(office)sheets for an almost square composition. I used charcoal becaus of the direct contact towards the canvas. "Le viager" feels for my like kind of a "Murphy's law" (like covering a cat's back with jam, trowing the cat out of the 3th floor window watching it "turn" undecided.

Hi there, doing a SALE on my artwork due to lack of space in my atelier/studio - contact me if you want to talk about pricing :) *please note : all work shown are originals. I do not make prints.* Born, and raised in the Netherlands ( Holland, Les Pays-Bas) I was fortunate, whilst I was a student in Fashion Design at the Art school in Utrecht, to have been selected for an exchange/master-program with a known art-school in Paris in 1994 (Duperée-ESSA)and the IFM (Institut Francais de la Mode). Paris was the metro-pole, melting pot, the city that never sleeps, where I lived joyfully for a while whilst working as a stylist in Haute Couture, high wearable fashion and Prêt a porter- quality wearable collections. December '99 to enrich myself, I moved to Germany, (Frankfurt area) for a few years to learn an other method of working in fashion and to upgrade the "French-ness"(the elegance, pretty Paris-ness in a high quality women's wear designer brand. The opportunity to work again in Haute Couture in Paris made me move back for a few years, before moving abroad. In Azeitaô, Portugal 2002 I started painting with acrylic paint. Today my atelier is right next door in the historical center of France, the city Blois. The climate, light, ambiance and daily-rithm are perfect for painting. Paris and Amsterdam being not too far is perfect-when there's a need to dive into art or culture. Ever since I could hold a pencil, I have been drawing. Drawing allowed me to travel all over the universe and back.Later it allowed me to work in fashion and draw collections, outfit's and styles. The use of (Acrylic-)Paint is a pretty surprising material for me. And since I love surprises.......
