Mothers of Srebrenica Painting

A modest contribution in commemorating 25th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide. On July 11 1995 more than 8,000 boys and men were brutally executed, and 30,000 people violently displaced. Since then, mothers of Srebrenica who have lost husbands, sons, brothers – have started a long and courageous walk for justice, truth and recognition. Despite the denial and minimization of the genocide they have found the strength to continue this struggle which is lasting for 25 years and is the only thing that is keeping the victims alive. Hatidza Mehmedovic, a Bosnian human rights activist, survivor of the Srebrenica massacre, and founder of the Mothers of Srebrenica was the main inspiration for the painting. This painting will be a part of the series titled Never Forget, which came as a reaction to denial of this and similar war crimes around the globe.We should never forget, in order to never repeat.
