Painted on Canson 100% Cotton bright white paper, the original has a beautiful deckle edge and can be float matted in the frame. Inspired by the textures occurring from natural weathering, this composition features a closer look at the Venice Motel sign in St. Petersburg Florida. These mid-century signs are disappearing, but here, it is preserved. I wanted the painting to be fun and quirky, somewhat pop culture, and detailed. Watercolor just lends itself to light and shadow situations. Here, the long shadows across the surface of the sign emphasizes the texture as I wanted to show it.
