Before central perspective had developed, the figures were anchored in the gold ground. But man was not made to stay in paradise, got lost and is just about to find himself again. Still blind, the figures - accompanying each other, uncertain - groping around in their enviroment, and yet it is precisely this fragile innocence that gives them the splendour of their original beauty. An image of our time. In being lost the solution is often so simple! If the protagonists were to take off their blindfolds, they would find themselves on golden ground.
