Suleiman (Yusef Suleiman / Simon Jason) is a British Artist living in the Middle East. He was born in Gloucestershire, England. It is one of the most beautiful parts of the English countryside, so, not surprisingly, nature is a key feature of his artworks. His father was a tree expert, an environmentalist and botanist and from an early age Suleiman was heavily involved with the environment. His mother was a successful craft potter. Growing up Suleiman was surrounded by artists - sculptors, painters and potters. He has lived in White Nile Province, Sudan and Java (Indonesia). but is now working in Saudi Arabia while building a home on the island of Oriental Mindoro in the Philippines The beauty of Mindoro, with its rain-forests, mountains, beaches and its warm-hearted people, is a great inspiration. His paintings come from memories of places once visited. Suleiman has exhibited in galleries in Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the UK and has drawings and paintings in private collections in Saudi Arabia, Sudan, UK, Indonesia and the Philippines. ​ His interest in photography and painting is the delicate play of color and light.
