Peaceful moment Painting

This painting is more dear to my heart than anything I have done!! I remember how mom was looking admirely at the effect of the thin white layers while I was trying to display in order to make it shiny. The Arabic poetry written on the paper was also chosen by mom as she felt her lovely spirit, her whole self and feelings embodied in it!! it was a six month project (in and out) , there aren't much items for this composition but it took a lot of reflection and objective observation to go back to it and make it real. The flowers are elegant and their vibrant white serves most to the darkness. The Arabic poetry written on the paper is a famous couplet for Ahmad Darwich describing how he borrows the flowers of his neighbors as a symbol of hope against the odds. This is a very rare piece cause Arabic calligraphy in general is a genre of Islamic art and linked to the Quran and the love of God ,although the pre-Islamic period the achievements of the Arabs was in their poetry and the subtle ability to express their feelings. What I did is that I freed this language from the emprisonment of religion in painting which is prohibited in the first place by Islam.
