To paint a painting from the Diffusion series is for me always a process in which I make the dissolution of boundaries the theme from beginning to end. Seamless, subtle transitions from one to another coloration, let me wander again and again through what is almost impossible to grasp. At a certain point, I can hardly grasp the process, no longer comprehend it, and relinquish control - and find a deep inner stillness in it. It is a letting go into the drift of "wanting to be in the moment". A surprise that happens without any form of heaviness imposing itself. Light as the view over the horizon of a landscape in the distance, with space for associations and dreams. What at first glance appears to be modern landscape painting in the impressionistic style, becomes clear upon closer inspection as the result of a rather expressionist way of working. The paintbrush does not touch the canvas when painting, but the paint is applied by physical movement. The paint is thrown onto the canvas by the brush and painting becomes a performative act. In contrast to more impulsive approaches such as Jackson Pollock's painting, very precise, controlled color settings are created here, through which Komander achieves a pre-planned design, even if the final motif only arises from the creative process. The works, despite their complex and expressive manner of creation, appear very harmonious, soothing and beautiful in a classical way. Beauty may be an end in itself, but also bring depth with it. It is precisely in this area of tension that I try to act.
