About The Artwork
Inspired by living in Africa / Arabia, coming from a Britain there is a certain guilt whence living upon this continent, although I am not sure why I would feel it, as Morocco was given the chance to be colonised by the British but refused it, but the British did give the Moroccans tea as it is claimed Queen Anne Stuart did so in the 18th century and Harry Aubrey de Vere Maclean, an instructor of warfare. I chose the Backdrop because dutch batiq cloth is synonymous with Africa and portraits lifted from Banknotes says something to me of economy.

I live in Marrakech, I am an autodidact, I am currently learning arabic and Darija (moroccan arabic). Before Morocco I lived in Spain and taught myself Spanish. I do not believe that a meaningful life should be easy, I like a challenge, learning Darija and running the family 'business' has been my greatest challenge so far. I left the U.K. when I was 24, I have travelled through a bit of Europe and now hopefully Africa. As a child I was diagnosed with dyslexia, which was first noticed when I was to take part in a school play where all the other children in my class had lines to learn, I had a noise to make, later my child psychoanalyst would state that my first language had been a visual language.
