About The Artwork

8hx10w inch oil painting on prepared All Media paper inspired by my love of nature. This is part of another series championing flowers. Nothing can equal the color or shapes of flowers. This series was inspired by a subject I found in an inherited garden in a small town. There were cabbage roses in the garden and they fascinated and inspired me. The white roses are imaginary and self-indulgent. Bold paint strokes and color. This series began in 2001 and finishes in 2018 .My work process begins in an undercoating of planned and random colors which I may or may not use. When this coating dries, the composition is drawn in with.a gray outline, The third layer becomes the final painting. It stays in the studio for several weeks drying and final adjustments. Color is always my priority. It decides the composition. The style is uniquely mine. Keywords: Unique Style, Fine Art, Colorful, Conceptual, Abstract, Floral, Vivid Color, Joyful, Modern

I have been a painter from the time others convinced me I was an artist. Having painted, living and traveling extensively in the United States and abroad, I was once labeled a "regional artist" by the Asheville Art Museum before beginning to work more abstractly, concentrating on various versions of expressionism. The artists I am most influenced by include Picasso, Matisse, the Fauvists and the Abstract Expressionists of the 1950s. I am privately collected in the United States, the UK, and in France. I am represented by the Asheville Art Museum in North Carolina and in private collections. My art education was intense at Washington University in St. Louis and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia (PAFA) where I received a full scholarship.
