Shopping As A Favourite Pastime
170 x 160 cm
oil and acrylic on canvas

In ‘shopping’ series, the artist usually takes advantage of inviting physical phenomenons and oscillations of the matter into quoditian life of individual.

‘Shopping’ series aims to create new points of view, wandering in the bazaars and downtowns of the past and shopping malls of today. It is an investigation of organic roots of mega cities, shopping mall complexes, satellite towns and synthetic settlements. By superpositioning the figures and constructive pieces using a collage approach, she aims to point out the transience of arquitectural forms and functionality through projections. The characteristics of Dikel’s paintings are the figures surrounded with an infinite cultural and physical dynamism yet they don’t have much clue about it, but still being exposed to it anyway.
