ARTIST'S NOTES This work is a result of playful experimentation with colour and composition. What emerged is devoid of self-consciousness and preoccupation with fitting into a formula. The work can be viewed as a celebration of uniqueness and oddity of all things living. Vaguely familiar, it stimulates a viewer's curiosity and imagination. "Sui Generis" originates from Latin and means "of its own kind". DETAILS Size: 29cm x 29cm | 11'' x 11'' (as framed) Materials: alcohol based ink, papercut and cutouts on 200gsm 100% tree free & recycled synthetic paper, Golden UVLS protective varnish with satin finish. Signature: signed with initials in the bottom right corner and with a full artist's name at the back. Framing: supplied float mounted in a wooden box frame with white smooth finish and non-reflective UV protective glass, ready to hang. Ariadna Dane is an artist living and working in London, UK. Through her upbringing in Siberia and travelling, she has discovered a connection to nature, which has become a source of inspiration for her evolving art practice. The creative process involves experimentation with techniques to imitate and amplify nature. Dane creates forms and textures that have a natural aesthetic and quality, reminiscent of organic cells, celestial structures, basic life forms or fossils. Due to the nature of materials and techniques used, the process of making is fluid and alive. The resulting forms and textures are partially chance and partially calculation; the outcome of both ceding the artist’s control over the process and being acutely aware of the development of forms and textures. Just like in nature, every resulting element is unique and cannot be repeated. To complete her compositions, the artist uses a combination of cut-out and collage techniques. Cutouts, made alongside the ink elements, both echo and contrast them. They serve as an allusion to the fragility of our nature. Dane's work is held in private and corporate collections internationally.
