About The Artwork
Part of an ongoing exploration of Colonel Sanders as unintentional(?) performance artist through the lens of a formal painting approach. Very much inspired by Pollock's use of obscured figurative underpainting, and his impact on performance art in general. I typically work within the constraints of a few elements - in this case, a palette of red, white, blue, black (colors KFC uses) and magenta. I am inspired by Richter, Twombly, Stella and many others. This has led me in new directions over time, mainly blurring oil-based enamel and sharpie at this point. Ultimately, I want to seduce the viewer with a visually impactful painting and then take them deeper with the KFC explorations.
