About The Artwork
When we took our trip to China, the temples were busy with people coming in and out. I wanted to show the culture, the devotion, the daily life without showing anyone in particular and honoring their way of life through suggestion and the captured moment. I captured this in watercolor. Watercolor is such a fresh and in the moment medium to use. It can tend to look too pastel if only one-dimensional. I like to build up the color layer by layer to it's fullest intensity. The red cushion, for example, has twenty layers in the most color rich areas.
