About The Artwork
Large scale figurative painting inspired by my time spent living in Italy in the small village of Calcata, Viterbo. The stylized figure is a nod to the Italian mannerist painters who combined classicism with personal expression, which is a good metaphor for living in this area situated halfway between Rome and Tuscany. There is a rich modernity as evidenced by the elite design tradition as well as an unwavering reverence for the past.
