About The Artwork

Landscape with river and water circles signifying sustainability first. Finnegans Wake is full of water images and tales: "...Ladies share the Waters. The Mother Goddess of water and power of..The name of the first one is Pishon/Spreader-that is the one that circles...". In the novel the global rivers and wetlands, are washing out the evidence of Earwicker's sins: "...circles, arcs and a rainbow, reflected in water - plenty of water". The first page of the novel is used to establish a mental map: "...the regginbrew regginbrow was to be seen on ringsun ringsome the waterface". The painting use green, blue and purple colors and circles to provide a visual image of the Joycean ALP (Anna Livia Plurabelle) mother-earth character.

Zonation paintings focus on integrating and balancing the elements: lines, tones and colours. I follow an expressionist painting philosophy inspired by Cézanne, Kleé and followers. Motives: Copenhagen cityscapes, croquis, stilleben. Artworks in acrylics, oil, aqua oil, multicoloured chalk, aquarelle and pencils. Artist video: http://vimeo.com/5322606 Artist podcast (Fr): http://podcloud.fr/podcast/choses-a-savoir-art/episode/artiste-a-decouvrir-hans-jorgen-henriksen I use the acronym 'de Hansi' in order to distinct my painting activities from my professional work as a hydrologist. I am a Danish hydrologist currently working as a principal investigator and researcher at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland at Øster Voldgade 10, 1350 in Copenhagen (working in close cooperation with Copenhagen University institute for geology and geography). I am known for my research in the field of hydrogeology, with a focus on groundwater resources and their management, as well as the impact of climate change on groundwater systems. I have published many papers in the international scientific journals, and I am also a member of several scientific organisations.
