About The Artwork

They were all content and busy over there and everywhere else. The two remained content off to the side being there for eachother. The title is in regards to certain degrees of haughty arrogance to which it seems an individual wouldn't need any love from an outside source because they provide enough for themselves.

My work deals with the psychological and emotional aspects of colors. A synesthesia of sense and emotion (thought affecting feeling/emotion and feeling/emotion affecting thought) represented in the work by color, line, space, shape and form. A verbal versus visual balancing within the composition through obscured or partly obscured shapes and letters with and through the use of color within a composition. I work in layers combining elements of hard edge and geometric abstraction with surrealism, blurring shapes and words of dreams and reality visually combining the sleep-state with the waking world. Rational (thought) vs Irrational thought (impulse). (distressed blurred background, illegible verbiage = dreams, thought, imagination, chaos...hard-edged shapes = rules, technicalities, regulations, order) My work evolves during the creative process. Lines, forms, and colors from the natural world evolve during my creative process, informed by loose pre-sketches and visual rhythms. The work is process oriented and lifestyle inspired pulling influences from life and time spent living, motorcycling and surfing in Southern California and other places. Several of my paintings have been included in World Wide Art Book's "Current Masters" Vol. 1. In the past I was asked to exhibit at the 34th and 35th Venice Beach Art Auction. (I'm also known as Mike Spitaletto)
