Frédéric Nadeau (Born March 1974, Montréal City) has spend is childhood on the south shore of the city. He attend elementary school at the « Académie Des Sacrés-Coeurs » in the heart of mount St-Bruno. This allows him to constantly be in the great outdoors all four seasons long. Then, the contrast hits. This time he steps directly in the heart of the metropolis and finishes his secondary school at Notre-Dame College. In his adolescence, studying sciences at Édouard-Montpetit Cegep while some of his friends were studying photography at Marsan College, he gets his first contact with the photographic medium. During social gathering, he often ends up with his friend’s camera in hands. Never the less, without really paying attention to this early “sign”, he completes his Sciences diploma, one year of engineering at Polythechnique University, then gets a diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the Vieux-Montréal Cegep. In 1998, after getting out of school, he starts his career at Bombardier Aerospace. Five years later, he founded a company called SAI, which will bring him to work in France.  This adventure will only last a year as he is offered a position at Pratt & Whitney Canada, where he will spend the next seven years. During this time, reality catches up and he doesn’t recognize himself anymore. Life runs at a high pace and changes operates very slowly. At this point, he understands that his actual carreer will never allow him to feel accomplished. Without never really understanding it, he then remembers his affinity for the camera. After some much needed time to think, he finally decides, for better or worse, to begin a radical career change. During is photography studies, doubts are still present. Unsure if it was a good decision to leave is hard earn career for the unknown. But while studying, he has the chance to get in touch with the work of great photographers like the Canadians Michael Levin, Yousuf Karsh, the Australian Peter Lik and the British Michael Kenna. Only then the clouds over his head are starting to ebb away. On a beautiful winter morning his compass clearly shows him the way to go. In 2014, he completes a photography degree at Marsan College, in Montréal, and begins a new journey as a visual artist.
